All session types will be 60 minutes. Group sessions will consist of a semiweek schedule, where the first meeting of a week will typically be a lecture-style session introducing a concept and the second meeting will be a practice session where students will work on the skills and concepts taught in the first lesson. The structure of individual sessions are dependent on the student's specific needs, but will involve the tutor working closely with the student in solving problems and learning concepts.
If you are accepted, an orientiation meeting will be held with both the student(s) and parents. Proposed recurring meeting times will be sent in the acceptance email, but further details will be clarified in the orientation meeting.
Corvid works on a pay-as-you-go basis. The payment for each week must be made on the Wednesday of each week via a Paypal link supplied when the student is accepted. Though the first week of instruction is free, there is a mandatory 1 month commitment period if students enroll in the program (this doest not apply to quick sessions).
The orientation session is a no-pressure 30-minute conversation. We'll talk about the student's goals, current challenges, and learning style, and figure out together whether we're a good fit. We will also settle a recurring meeting time and I will gather information to develop a lesson plan. This session is free regardless of the session type.
Primarily grades 5 through 12. Exceptions can be made for advanced elementary schoolers tackling high school material, or for college students in introductory courses.
Yes. SAT, ACT, and individual AP exam prep are all available. Having self-studied to a 1600 SAT and 36 ACT, my approach is practical and targeted rather than formula-heavy.
Due to limited time, I am not available to offer a full consultation program. Please reach out to the email at the bottom of this page to inquire about consultation opportunities.
If you seek tutoring for a subject not listed in the form, please select the 'other' option and enter your preferred subject. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to instruct in the requested additional subject, and I will let you know if it is not possible.
Due to the complexities involved in creating a productive lesson plan, I advise only requesting 1-2 subjects.
